Scrap-Happy Bookmark!

Today I’m going to show you how even small scraps of paper can be made into something useful! Thanks to my friend Leslie for showing me how to make these ingenious bookmarks that go right over the corner of the page:

In my last post (see here) I showed you a couple of cards made using the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper plus Mint Macaron card stock, one of this year’s new In Colors. Of course, whenever you cut your papers to size, there are leftover pieces, and I often use whatever is left on my work table in the next project.

The first step is to cut your triangles. Cut the corner of a regular business envelope by marking 3″ along one side with a pencil dot, and 3″ along the other side with another dot. Place both dots along the groove in your paper trimmer and cut along that line. Next, measure 2 3/4″ along one side of a leftover scrap of patterned paper, and 2 3/4″ along the other side, marking with pencil dots. Repeat the cutting procedure to make a slightly smaller triangle than the envelope triangle. Repeat with a coordinating color of plain card stock.

After cutting, decorate your plain card stock triangle with stamped images. I used the Garden in Bloom set with Basic Black and Pacific Point ink, and after gluing the triangles onto the front and back of the white envelope triangle, I sponged all of the edges with Mint Macaron ink.

The back of the book mark is just as pretty as the front!

Here are the supplies I used to make the corner book mark, in addition to a regular white envelope:

I love projects that you can use your scraps with! Just did a post using scraps myself! I’m going to have to make a few of these tonight. Thanks for the great idea!
